Review: Flat Rock Wood Room, Hendersonville, NC

The wife and I headed up to Cherokee for the Aaron Lewis concert and the 3rd Annual BrewBQ for one of my birthday presents. I pulled a couple of food options for our drive back home, and the winner ended up being Flat Rock Wood Room.

We figured after we had BBQ the day before at the festival that we'd end up just getting a pizza or something else off the menu. Then we walked in and saw all the BBQ competition trophies and awards throughout the place. We both quickly decided that we could "suffer" through more BBQ.

She decided to go for the brisket sandwich with cheesy bacon grits ... take a second ... yes, cheesy bacon grits.

The brisket was tender and juicy, but those cheesy bacon grits (sorry just wanted to say it again) are worth the drive all over again by themselves.

I kept it a little more on the traditional side. Pulled pork sandwich with baked beans.

I'm not sure if it's a heavy injection or if they pull the pork with a sauce, but the pork did come with some already on it. No complaints here. I added a bit of their spicy and sweet and chowed down. The buns they use are amazing too. They give them a little char so you actually get a crunch in there too. The baked beans were great ... but they weren't cheesy bacon grits.

We will be returning, soon, and since they have an outdoor seating area that they allow pets, Rhett will be joining the trip.
